When you ask fat people about diets they tell you that they have tried them all and nothing works. They have tried counting calories and eating only proteins. They have tried starving themselves and filling their bellies with water and teas. They have tried hundreds of pills and powders and nothing helps them lose weight. Why is it that Dieting and Fat Loss don’t always go together?
Losing weight is not easy and nobody pretends that it is. Will power is not enough, a little help is necessary to really go all the way into a healthy life. Losing weight is not only a matter of cutting down on carbohydrates and fats. Stop eating pasta and bread or eat more fish and vegetables.
Dieting is not only about counting carbohydrates, proteins, fats and glucose, dieting is learning how to eat healthy food in the right amounts. If all you do is reduce the amount of calories you ingest every day so your body will start burning fat, it will work for a while but not for long. Your body will adjust to the number of calories you give it and live off them without burning fat.
Exercise does not mean that you will have to spend two or three hours in a gym lifting weights and jumping from one machine to another. All you need to jump start your systems is a brisk walk in the park. Half an hour to one hour per day is enough to start burning calories. After a couple of months you will feel the difference and you will see it too.
Many things are involved in this process. It is not only a matter of eating less or eating something different. Changes in life style have to be made to accomplish your health goals. The first thing to do is to set short achievable goals. A fifteen minute walk every day, ten times up and down a flight of stairs. Once you are comfortable with this add another fifteen minutes.
It is important that you stop running, sit down and eat three meals per day with your feet under a table. Enjoy your food, relax and share with someone. It is necessary to slow down and look at the world around you. Learn to appreciate a flower or a sunset. Get enough rest at night, at least eight hours every night. Leave your problems at the office give your mind a break.
Take at least half an hour every day for yourself. Go to the park and walk, or jog by yourself. Exercise and get your metabolism going. Gradually increase your exercise time to one hour every day, if possible three times a week if you cant. It is your metabolism that burns fat; it is not the diet that will burn it.
Nothing can stop you if your mind is made up. Your health and wellbeing are a powerful incentive. They are a medicine that you will feel acting and making you better soon after starting your program. Remember that it is your decision to change, nobody is making you do it. You will have some humor changes when you start so don’t take your anger and frustration out on others. You will soon start to see positive results and will want to continue forward.
